Three pieces of my unfinished documentary about the Ribeirinhos of Barcarena.

It is the story of the communities living on the river borders of the Amazone estuary near Belém, PA, Brazil whose habitat is destroyed and poisoned by the aluminum industry of Barcarena. Their struggle to survive in the rainforest relates to the global environmental themes of pollution and warming up of our mother earth.

É a história das comunidades Ribeirinhos que vivem nas fronteiras dos rios do estuário da Amazona, próximo de Barcarena, Belém, PA, Brasil cujo biótopo é destruído e envenenado pela indústria de alumínio de Barcarena. Sua luta para sobreviver na floresta refere ao temas ambientais globais de poluição e aquecimento da nossa terra.

Wij uit de sloppenwijk

De NGO "Nos do morro" vangt drug-verslaafde kinderen op in de sloppenwijk Vidigal in Rio de Janeiro via theaterprojecten, muziek en film. Niet echt een top-video maar wel een mooi voorbeeld van hoe kunst en cultuur als sociale therapie kunnen gebruikt worden.

Het koor in de video is "a Velha Guarda Vai Vai" met ouderen uit de Morro do Vidigal, diezelfde sloppenwijk.
Al mag de uitvoering wat op het randje zijn, de song is catchy en de warmhartige emotionaliteit die er van uitgaat toont goed waar het in samba meestal om draait.
